Abdullah Al Salem University, under the supervision of Professor Shafiullah Khan, organized three master’s thesis defense sessions on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the Khaldiya campus. The event was marked by distinguished academic attendance and represented a significant milestone for the university

The three students belong to the first cohort of the master’s program. Anfal Marzouq Al-Mutairi, from the College of Computer Engineering and Systems, defended her thesis titled “Cybersecurity Laws and Regulations in Kuwait: Reviewing and Enhancing the Security Framework.” Her research examined Kuwait’s legislative and regulatory framework for cybersecurity, comparing it with international standards such as the European GDPR and NIS2 directives

Meanwhile, Anfal Misfer Al-Ajmi, also from the College of Computer Engineering and Systems, presented her thesis “Distributed Denial-of-Service Attack Detection System Assisted by Generative Adversarial Networks.” She introduced an advanced framework designed to strengthen intrusion detection systems against AI-generated cyberattacks

The third defense was by Mai Rashid Al-Rushaid, from the same college and program, who presented her thesis “Ransomware Attack Detection Using Repeated Stackelberg Game.” She proposed a mathematical model based on game theory to analyze the interaction between attackers and defenders in cyberspace environments

These defenses mark a turning point in the university’s academic journey, as they represent the achievements of its first master’s cohort. They also reinforce Abdullah Al Salem University’s position in the landscape of cybersecurity research in Kuwait
