The President of Abdullah Al Salem University, Prof. Mona Suleiman Al-Ahmad, chaired University Council Meeting No. (04/2026), attended by Council members, on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, in the University Council Meeting Hall at the Khaldiya Campus.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Mona Suleiman Al-Ahmad welcomed the attendees and congratulated them on the start of the first semester of the new academic year 2026/2027. She prayed that the year would be filled with achievements, dedication, success, and prosperity for the University and all its members, including academic and teaching staff, administrative personnel, and students.

She also extended her sincere congratulations on the commencement of classes and the admission of the first cohort of students to the College of Medicine and Health Sciences. She noted that this institution represents a fundamental pillar in the University’s journey toward academic and research excellence and contributes significantly to preparing qualified medical professionals to serve society and the nation.

Prof. Al-Ahmad emphasized that the quality of academic education is the foundation and true measure of the University’s excellence. She highlighted the importance of developing academic programs, keeping pace with accreditation and quality standards, and enhancing educational outcomes to meet labor market needs and development goals.

In a statement following the meeting, Acting Secretary-General of the University, Dr. Adel Abdullah Al-Hussainan, explained that the University Council discussed the items on its agenda. The Council approved the minutes of University Council Meeting No. (03/2026), held on 24 June 2026, and reviewed the follow-up report on the implementation of its previous decisions.

The Council also approved, by circulation, decisions concerning amendments to the placement tests for students admitted for the first semester of the 2026/2027 academic year, dated 21 July 2027, and the proposed budget of Abdullah Al Salem University for the 2027/2028 fiscal year, dated 24 September 2026.

Dr. Al-Hussainan added that the Council reviewed the final account report for the 2025/2026 fiscal year.

He further stated that the Council approved several decisions, including the Rules and Procedures for Supporting Scientific Research at Abdullah Al Salem University, as well as the Memorandum of Understanding between the University and the Environment Public Authority to cooperate in environmental affairs, sustainability, research, and institutional development.

Dr. Al-Hussainan also noted that the Council approved the award of master’s degrees to 12 graduates from the first cohort of postgraduate programs who had fulfilled all graduation requirements.

On this occasion, Prof. Mona Suleiman Al-Ahmad extended her heartfelt congratulations, on her own behalf and on behalf of the University community, to the postgraduate graduates from various colleges. She expressed the University’s pride in this distinguished group, which represents the first cohort of master’s graduates from the University. She wished them continued learning, success, and prosperity in their professional, personal, and academic journeys.

She also expressed her appreciation to the academic and teaching staff and supervisors for their dedicated efforts, which contributed to the successful graduation of the 12 master’s degree recipients.
