It is my pleasure to welcome you to the official website of Abdullah Al Salem University. The University was established pursuant to Law No. 76 of 2019 concerning public universities, and by the Decree forming the Founding Administrative Board issued on September 20, 2021. This establishment reflects the vision of Kuwait’s high political leadership to place the University on a firm foundation as one of the distinguished academic institutions in the State of Kuwait and the region.
Abdullah Al Salem University is committed to making a significant contribution to the development of a diversified, knowledge-based economy that keeps pace with the rapidly advancing digital era. The University seeks to enrich the labour market with scientific, intellectual, and creative outputs, and to advance society in alignment with the national development plan, the government’s work program, and Kuwait Vision 2035, which aspires to transform the State of Kuwait into a financial and economic hub founded on knowledge and innovation.
The University commenced its operational phase less than two years after the Founding Administrative Board began its work, welcoming its first cohort of 605 students in the 2023–2024 academic year on September 24, 2023. This was followed by the admission of 1,127 students in the 2024–2025 academic year across various academic programs. Preparations are currently underway to admit the third cohort of 1,000 students for the 2025–2026 academic year. The official inauguration of Abdullah Al Salem University and the launch of its institutional identity took place under the patronage and in the presence of His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, on March 6, 2024.
Looking ahead, Abdullah Al Salem University is preparing to launch the College of Medicine and Health Sciences in the 2026–2027 academic year, in accordance with the partnership agreement signed with King’s College London, one of the world’s leading institutions in medical education.
Since its establishment, Abdullah Al Salem University has sought to be a beacon of learning, a platform for creativity, knowledge, and innovation, and a nurturing environment for national talent. The University opens its doors to all that is new and innovative, supports the projects of its students and researchers, and bridges the gap between theoretical and practical knowledge and the real needs of society, ensuring that it remains at the heart of the educational landscape locally, regionally, and internationally.
Abdullah Al Salem University offers thirteen high-quality academic programs designed to meet students’ aspirations and the needs of the labour market. These programs are distinguished by their alignment with the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which focuses on cybersecurity, data science, artificial intelligence, and related fields. The University also places great emphasis on scientific research, which is regarded as the cornerstone of progress in all disciplines. Furthermore, it provides an optimal environment that enables students and faculty members to engage in scientific research and to organise regular academic conferences and symposia.
Abdullah Al Salem University continues its journey by achieving numerous accomplishments across various fields, thereby strengthening its academic and research competitiveness alongside its peer institutions in the State of Kuwait. The University aspires to fulfil its noble vision and mission by keeping track with the requirements of comprehensive development, serving the community, and providing an ideal educational environment with an ambitious strategic framework. Through both short- and long-term plans, the University seeks to stay aligned with the ongoing advancements in higher education and scientific research observed in the world’s leading and most prestigious universities. It continues to advance as a pioneering model of excellence in academia and research, guided by the insightful vision and reform-oriented democratic approach of His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait, may Allah protect and preserve him, and his aspirations for the nation’s progress and global standing.
