Background
Abdullah Al Salem University (AASU) is delighted to announce the commencement of applications for individuals interested in pursuing master's degrees for the upcoming academic Fall semester for local and international applicants.
Full scholarships, research assistantships, or teaching assistantships are available on merit based on the assessment of the applicant's credentials.
Admissions are open till 27th May 2024.
Program Offerings
AASU is currently offering the following master's programs:
- Cyber Security Engineering
- Data Science and Artificial Intelligence
- Energy Systems Engineering
- Finance / Risk Management / FinTech
General Guidelines and Application Requirements
Prospective candidates must possess an accredited bachelor’s degree pertinent to the chosen program. Specific requirements for each program are as follows:
- Cyber Security Engineering
Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science, or information technology, or a related field.
- Data Science and Artificial Intelligence
Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- Energy Systems Engineering
Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in energy engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field.
- Finance / Risk Management / FinTech
Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, economics, accounting, mathematics/statistics, computer science/information technology, engineering, or a related field.
Candidates are permitted to apply for multiple programs. Each program's admission committee is responsible for reviewing applications and determining final acceptance into the graduate program.
Important Notes
- Applicants in their final semester of undergraduate studies must provide a letter confirming their anticipated fulfillment of graduation requirements before the final acceptance by AASU.
- International applicants, if accepted, must submit attested degrees from the Ministry of Higher Education in Kuwait or the Embassy of the State of Kuwait, if their degrees are not from a Kuwaiti institution.
- All applicants must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale) or equivalent in their undergraduate degree.
- Scheduled interviews are not indicative of meeting application requirements or completion.
- Failure to attend the interview (if applicable) will result in the rejection of the applicant's application.
- Correspondence will be conducted solely via email, and applicants are responsible for monitoring their inboxes.
- The university reserves the right to suspend admissions to any program without providing reasons and to reject applications accordingly.
- Transfer students are required to utilize the same application process and furnish necessary documentation, including a transcript from their current institution, along with other supporting credentials for admission and potential credit transfer. The maximum allowable transferable credit hours are six (6).
- Applicants seeking readmission who did not enroll within one academic year of their initial admission must submit a fresh application.
Required Documents
One PDF file must include the following documents in the specified order:
- Copy of valid Civil ID for Kuwaiti nationals and Kuwaiti residents.
- Copy of Passport personal data page for all applicants.
- Official and certified transcripts of bachelor's degree.
- Three letters of recommendation.
- Copies of additional certifications (if applicable).
- For non-native English speakers, official English language proficiency test reports such as TOEFL (iBT, PBT, CBT or ITP), IELTS taken within the last two years.
- Updated CV.
Additionally, programs may request supplementary documentation as part of the application process.
Accepted students are required to provide attested copies of their degrees maximum by the end of the second semester of their enrolment at AASU.
Admission Process
- Upon submission, applications will undergo a preliminary review for completeness and eligibility. Eligible candidates will proceed to program-specific reviews, and only those meeting the criteria will be contacted for interviews.
- Applicants will receive admissions decisions via email, and successful candidates must finalize admission by submitting original documents within the specified timeframe.
- After completing all application procedures, shortlisted candidates will be contacted for acceptance consideration.
